WORDS

"Words are what men live by",

My father used to say;

"A man need never question why,

There's just no other way".

"Words are what men live by,

Since words themselves began",

And then he'd look me in the eye

As if I were a man.

"Women take a different view,

They parley with a kiss,

Don't ask me why but they just do,

That's just the way it is".

"Words are what men live by",

I'd hear my father say;

Then he'd watch mother by and by,

And she'd smile and look away.
