I was not impressed by the LIKES of that masked thug seen running at a police horse and

punching it in the face - and who was later reported to be receiving "disability" benefit!

Spare us your song of self-pity

The world's had enough of that ditty!

The refrain stays the same -

Finding someone to blame

For the fact that your life is so shitty.

At odds with adapting or saving

Eagerly embracing each craving

Empowered by drink or drugs

Paid from taxes by the "mugs"

Who work while you're drowning...not waving.

Having considerable experience of working with humanity "in the mass" in the past, it is clear that there is substantial evidence to show that many adults (I use the term in the physical sense) have regressed - if they ever reached it - from the onset of "mental maturity" to a state of being unwilling to accept responsibility for - or fulfilling the conditions of - being properly functioning grown-ups. The behaviour of certain footie "supporters" at many venues - often with dire consequences - is another indication of this infantile phenomenon. The immature undisciplined and the aggressive love a crowd- which can quickly become a mob out of control and beyond reason.

I completely concur with Shirley.
In Berne's model of transactional analysis he suggests each of us combines elements of Parent, Adult and Child. So may people these days seem not to be able to throw off the Child - seeing misfortune as something others have done to them, hoping some other authority will provide for them.
We may not sit on the same end of the political spectrum, MC, but you have my respect and support to post whatever you wish.

Hi Shirley - we could do with a bit of that famous "can do" that typifies the American(s) Iknow - some of whom are very blunt about those who they see as dragging them down all the time. Never could understand though why such a freedom-conscious "neighbourly" nation never organised the equivalent of our National Health Service (one of the Labour Party's very greatest achievements). What could be so vital as peace of mind when ill-health strikes?

Spot on. I myself have written poems about self pity. A famous comedian once said tell the truth Your Mom was fine, Your Dad was fine, You're just a sh--t head!
Your poem made me laugh.
