The Day Bobby Kennedy Died

I was watching television when Bobby Kennedy was killed

I was only twelve years old

But old enough to cry

I ran out into the garden somewhere

And quietly said a prayer

But that didn’t seem to matter, because Bobby Kennedy died

My brother sprayed me with water the day Bobby Kennedy was killed

He had a brand new water pistol

And his aim was rather good

I chased him out of the garden

And threw his pistol over the fence

But that didn’t seem to matter, because Bobby Kennedy died.

Sirhan Sirhan was a man with a pistol, the day Bobby Kennedy was killed

He was twenty four years old

And he’d written in a notebook that ‘RFK must die’

Bobby won the election

And his supporters must have been happy

But that didn’t seem to matter, because Bobby Kennedy died

I was watching a television programme about when Bobby Kennedy was killed

It was only the other day and I was fifty six years old

It was about a man who lived in the USA

Who saw wrong and tried to right it, saw suffering and tried to heal it, saw war and tried to stop it.

And that really seems to matter, even though Bobby Kennedy died.

◄ It Doesn't Matter

Sounds Like Richard Burton ►

I love this too.

It's the same with Princess Diana - I'll never forget what I was doing the day she died - every minute detail of the day seemed clouded with the news.
