Never Knowing

entry picture

Twelve on wings of Tuesday

Lay a waste of what of and wherefore

Black and buggered streets all smoking

Came them hard all rough and riding

Cloaked in rain and armed with thunder

Like all men fore and all men after

Honour bound to hold for lifelong

Honour bound never stolen never given

Silver scabbard glinting starshine

Flashing keener yet than pain

Never knowing whence the moment

Never knowing

Never knowing

Sailor jack tied her ribbons

Lit by white snow flickering dancing fire

Held tight by ripping stripping rushing waters

Forty fathoms spiralling deeper yet

Buckled and banjoed rum in a bucket

Oystermen long songs, sirens shanties

Bring along sing along come alongside

Lap slapping salt breath twinkling of the eye

Turquoise iceberg colder than time

As time my love as all time

Never knowing whence the moment

Never knowing

Never knowing

I always enjoy the racy urgency, imagery and lyricism of your work, Gus. (Haven't a clue what it's about but it doesn't get in the way of my enjoyment).

It's rather like a sea shanty - I like it!

This has a great lyrical feel to rather like a song.it flows along nicely at a good pace
