If i had a pound for...

If i had a pound for

each time you said 'No'.  I would be rich!

If i had a pound for

each time you made me cry. I'd be wealthy.

If i had a pound for

each time i came second best. I'd be a millionairess.

If i had a pound for

each time i felt unworthy. I'd be a billionairess.

If i had a pound for

each time i was used. Noughts would be into infinity.

To be wealthy; all i need is you.

Thanks everyone for the comments on this.
Isobel and Cate- it's simply a case of expectation v reality. Cynthia has it spot on really. How great is the need and how far up or down the list are we in order of importance.
Some people spread themselves so thinly it leaves little time or space for the ones who should matter, leading to disappointment.

Hi Janet, sounds like you have been badly let down, but I agree with Isobel....... sack him off gal and find someone better!

Hi, Janet.
Here's an interesting bit of trivia: GOOGOL - 1 followed by a 100 zeros, as coined by Edward Kasner, co-author of Mathematics and the Imagination. Probably where GOOGLE was borrowed.
I enjoyed the rhetorical style of building up from least to greatest. Good poem.

Hi Janet,

If I had a pound for every time I've said "If I had a pound for . . . " Well, I guess I'd have . . . some pounds! Sometimes we save for those rainy days, and never realise that it's been throwing it down for years. Nice one.

Regards,
A.E.

I think it is time to sack him Janet - you or she - is richer without him and there is someone much nicer just around the corner - for all of us.
