THE GREEN GREEN GRASS AT DORTMUND

I awake and look around me

at theĀ old grey walls that surround me

and I think that I am dreaming

the sun has not been kind of late

to the green green grass at Dortmund

there's a guard and there's a group of soldiers

the grass is brown at the army base

Queen Elizabeth the queen mother

is coming to inspect the place

and the pots of paint are coming out

to paint the brown brown grass bright green

then once more again we'll see

the green green grass at Dortmund

Thanks David and Stu for the appreciation, and David for the idea which I fleshed out. Humour must out in the ridiculousness of true life. You have been kind of late.

lots of hints of madness here and overall its a comic poem but

the sun has not been kind of late

is such a fantastic stand alone line that it instills the whole piece with a strange sense of loss.

enjoyed greatly.
