COMPUTER REPAIR SHOP

Where the comatose computers rest

on shelves, awaiting their rigorous test

their screens and towers are dust slumbering,

one blinks as if on watch

feeding tubes connected again

to the great bloodbank of internet

always on hand replenishing.

The one who knows their tricks

bad habits, faults

forgives them one and all

with remarkable good humour

thriving on certificated rumour.

The owners are on hold,

a tempting click away

until the legless pets come back

to bodies hugged, de - bugged,

until once more the restless ghosts

escape their exorcisms

regroup just around a corner

in their elusive prisms.

I have a confession folks - sometimes I enjoy comments as much as poems; the creative urge can be equally expressed. As I have been offline sporadically it is like putting on old slippers again. A nice mix of responses !
elP Anthromorphisms - what a great word and it makes me feel quite proud ! It's all a bit daunting but where would we be without them?

Hi, Ray,

I did enough poking around under the hood to make me certifiable (if you know what I mean). They are fascinating if you have the patience and interest for them.

I really like the anthropomorphisms..very clever.

ditto David - well, the last stanza comment not the inside contact.

each stanza has a feel of its own - I particularly like the second - reminds me of humans hooked up to a life-support machine - the dependency on intervention to function, and in the third verse the doctor becomes the techy or vice versa. But in the forth we find the bugs are not completely destroyed - they've just snuck off and are hiding round the corner - vulnerability.

Cheers,
Col
