Unkind Gesture (Haiku's)
1) Thwarted in effort
a symbol of peace erased
respects the silence.
2) The unforgiving
returned the hand of friendship
unforgiven - gone.

Thanks all,
Cynthia - yes you got it right but neither of your chosen words would fit the syllable count. :-)
Isobel - you obviously had a similar up-bringing to myself, i too come from a large family squashed up in a house not big enough for all to be together and get along well all the time but as you rightly say, arguments were worked through and sorted out no matter how difficult it seemed at the time. :-)
Antonionioni - they weren't meant to be hard hitting, just honest and simple truth.

A sad one Janet - one of the best lessons I was ever taught by my parents was to accept a genuine apology or peace offering - in a large family an absolute must cos arguements were a plenty. Just as important in a small family where allies are few - arguments should never be allowed to fester.
Janet, you get better every day.
By any chance, did you mean 'spurned' as in 'rejected' for 'returned the hand of friendship'? I'm only wondering. I didn't get the impression that they shook hands.
