WOL's New Rhymers Club

 

Preamble

My mind has two parts – Serious and Comic. They play around at times and need watching to see they don't get up to mischief. I personify them in my poetry

 

 

Before I do begin

I must apologise

My poem seemed to go right on

And on before my eyes

 

Let me introduce

A new group on the site

A rag-tag group of rhymers

Establishing their right

 

A right to use their specialty

A specialty they chose

To carry thoughts, emotions

In preference to prose

 

Rhyme is not in fashion

As 'twas in Shakespeare's time

Publishers not interested

What's this? A silly rhyme?

 

But rhyme has got it's own way

Unique from all the rest

Delivering Comic, Serious

It stands the time, the test

 

You'll notice I've used Serious

To verse away awhile

Now it's your turn Comic

Put on our face, a smile

 

Hello? 'Tis I, Comic here

Created by my Keeper

While Serious has been rambling

I've been fast asleeper

 

We're top-class educated

The members of our Club

To illustrate, we use words

Like rub a dub a dub

 

Our froggie's also hopped in

And brought his rhyme machine

He's so excited, cannot wait

See him on your screen?

 

ribbit...ribbit...ribbit

ribbit...ribbit...ribbit

 

Let me try translate this

I gotta get it right

He's so well-educated

His poem says 'croak, goodnight'

 

As Comic, I do play around

Bring smiles and bright our day

By skilful intertwining

Words, emotions, play

 

Our Club is up to seven now

All rhyming merrily

Rhyming with their breakfast

And rhyming with their tea

 

You ask me why they are not

Rhyming with their lunch?

They need to get some sustenance

Too busy going munch

 

The Club has it's headquarters

Where FUN BUS HQ is

And both ably looked after
