House I Hear You Calling
House, I Hear You Calling
House, I hear you calling
Come rid me of my dust
Gosh, you are persistent
If I really must
Trouble is I'm 'dicted
To my computer screen
Watching all these UK
Minds (themselves unseen)
How then would you feel like
Dust-covered just like me
Would you still be able
To see your poetry?
I hear what you are saying
I hear you through your dust
To make you/me both happy
I'll clean you. Yes you must

I'm reminded of the song "This Old House" - sung by Rosemary Clooney (or was it Jo Stafford?) on one of
those old 78s of yesteryear. But what
is dust but transferred matter? I recall Quentin Crisp boasting that his city flat in New York was a haven for the stuff. My own attitude is to become active when it is adopting a layer-like appearance - or threatens to dull the
sharp images of my PC/TV screens!! Then a flick of the
duster or a weary push of the floor cleaner is resorted to
under this tiresome visual pressure.
