More than a puzzle
Simple when you know how
when you don't
when it will not yield its secret
tormenting
There in my hands is the answer
easy years ago, not now. How?!!
and how could I have forgotten?
bamboozling
It is becoming obsessive
playing on what passes for my mind
it is getting out of proportion
excruciating
A child masters it with ease
with grace, panache and flair
while my adult fumbles achieve nothing
humiliating
I try to find a funny side
to most of life's defeats
but there is no humour in this struggle
demoralising
oh
so simple
so mind-bendingly, head-bangingly simple
Sigh
Why so little sense of triumph?
Now where is someone else.......
to feel superior to

On one level simple, on another, a conplicated piece. For me the most interesting themes in this are: the frustration of ageing; and the nature of defeat. Do we learn more from winning or losing /failing? I doubt that philosophers will ever agree on that one. Thanks for coming to LIVERpoetry launch, Dave. Hope I wasn't too pissed as MC ... I didn't have time for me tea, you see.
