I Protest
Preamble: This weeks Rhymers theme..protest. My tongue in cheek contribution.
I Protest
I cannot seem to get much rest,
but how can I possibly protest?
It is hard to get much sleep.
I feel so tired I could weep.
All I want is to rest..
they can all go protest.
"Mother have you seen my phone?"
Their complaints an incessant drone.
I think I will just make a banner,
I have some nails and a hammer,
or chain myself to some railings;
to try to disguise my failings.
I'll march the march and cry the cry,
I'll hold my banner way up high.
Please just leave me alone,
I am not the only one at the end of a phone.
I just want you all to see,
I'm not just mother I am me!
I will be there with the very best,
hoist my banner in protest;
Then perhaps I will finally get some rest..

An excellent poem of the relentless travail of motherhood. I loved every line.
Thanks for this.
