A Fading Light
A Fading Light
Woven furrows of tufted grass
enshrines a natures past
From battlements and lofty spires
to a ravenous squirrel aloft
Memories layered one upon another
autumns to cover the summer
Capricious skies and radiant moons
the mists of dawn to sit and stay
Solitary figures each a history
in dwellings of ancient stone
A gaunt tree of autumnal fright
a halloween pumpkin of evil delight
A pervasive silence of proven sound
dim lights glowing in distant towns
To hibernate and sleep to dream of light
on beds of heavy down to slumber
Subdued, deadened and hidden away
a requiem is played on frosty pastures
Drifts of time repeat their story
as time is given to store anew

Excellent flow to this Keith - it really is a commitment of mind . I like "proven sound" especially. This poem has a strength to it as you challenge the reader wisely.
