As You Walk The Road

(Written for a friend)

Share the words at the core of your soul,

Without fear, so all can hear,

Only this outpouring will allow you to be whole,

So speak bravely my friend, speak clear.

To hell and be damned all those that disapprove,

They don't have to carry the burden of your load,

You must speak with your heart if you're ever going to move

The hearts of your fellow travellers on this road.

Accept that as we walk it many paths will cross,

Some journeymen may even try to join you to it's end,

Give thanks for their company and when they leave accept the loss,

But know that some will stay, the ones that you call, "Friend."

So speak bravely my friend, from the core of your soul,

Tread proudly, don't allow your footsteps to be slowed,

Know that in this test, "You are no-one's second best!"

Just the best that you can be as you walk the road.

Hi Jason! Beautiful poem, and agree your friend is lucky. So often so-called friends are not available when needed.

Thanks Mae, Dorothy, "Heart,"

I'm sure my friend is wise enough to find their path and strong enough to walk it. And never too proud to lean on their friends once in a while, just as the rest of us do.?

Thank you Jason. "You are no-one's second best." This made me cry, but in a good way for the first time in a long time. You build such comfort and encouragment into your poetry and truly I treasure that. And as Mae says, to count you as a friend is truly to be lucky.

"accept that as we walk many paths will cross"

"You are no-ones second best"

I love those lines - your friend should take comfort and be encouraged by them.

I hope that he will be able to

" Share the words at the core of your soul, without fear"

Well written and well spoken Jason.

Beautiful Jason! Sincere and moving and perfectly phrased, shaped and laid out, as always! Loved it! ?
Anyone who has you as a firend is lucky!
