WHITE HORSES IN A DARKENED FIELD
White horses in
a darkened field
in silhouette
stand ever still
Phantoms in white
their presence yields
a ghostly sight
in darkened field
By chance we came
upon this sight
white horses in
the soft moonlight
Their image stays
on mind despite
long past white horses
in the night.

Dk, what I find most brilliant in this poem is the inversion of the silhouettes - white against black. I get a sense of the phrase "death rides a pale horse" in this. The horses in the poem are riderless and still, as if waiting. I read this as a reflection on inevitable mortality. That is my interpretation of this wonderful poem. Thanks for this one.
