After the stormy night
I opened my eyes.
A slant sunray was whispering in my ear.
The house was almost blown away.
I heard a faint twitter of a starling.
It had its home on the rig of my house.
I put my hand into my pocket
and found some darkness, failures and losses.
I stood and went beneath the tree.
The starling was making its nest again.
I stood till the evening.
The nest was made.
I emptied my pocket and felt the hunger.
I sighed a little and went out in search of food.

I have a real soft spot for starlings....in fact I was watching a mini fleet of them flying in formation earlier this evening. I especially liked your line ' I put my hand in my pocket and found darkness, failure and losses' we all do that... Sometimes finding just one solitary, shiny hopeful penny!
