thank you Gus, for your kind comments on Blackwater. I was going to come down for the next WOL but Winston told me it isn't on in july. The poetry in the woods thing looks good on Saturday but is it going to rain i wonder? I was hoping to see you at the last WOL night i went to, April i think it was. I was carrying with me a small thing i made for you but it returned back up north again and now it sits on my desk. it will travel with me by train in August for the next meeting unless you are off travelling the world that month. thanks again, deb x

..hello Gus...or is it Sherlock ?...a few years ago I spent time researching the family tree and came across gr.gr.gr. grandparents who came from Cork and settled in Kelsall in 1835..the more I found out, the more poems I began to write about them, in this extract they're ghosts. Is writing style in the 'genes' do you think...very odd...although I'm pleased you spotted something. (I was born in Lytham)...cheers.. chris...(if you click on 'myspace' link at the top the first song 'Rosanna' is about them).

Thanks for your lovely comments Gus - particularly the one on my bollocks poem - I have a quirky sense of humour and wasn't sure if the subject matter was to many people's taste so quickly overblogged it but was glad to hear someone appreciated it!

Gus LOL... Yes the Marsh Marigold is apparently locally known as the Bulrush. Someoneonce told me that this confusion started with a famous painting of moses in the bulrushes which featured the reedmace. It was the actual basket that was made from the bulrush which is commonly employed in basket weaving. Regards, Win x

Hi Gus, Just read your comments on my comments on Mal's poem. Thank you. I totally understand your anger and lack of words. I will write about this one day for you and for everyone else who feels strongly. This is a powerful site for people with things both difficult and beautiful to say... lets keep it that way. Win x

Glad you enjoyed Back Fat - thanks for the chip comment but not this one not autobiographical (unlike the beastiality material). I've just noticed your OCD poem - gutted - I'd already started penning the stuff about only having the volume control on even numbers and having to tap your left hand if you tap your right, but then you need to go right, then left, then right-left-left-right...etc... all of course comes with dire consequences if you don't.
There's no hope for me....

After some reflection, I changed my final comment on 'I wish I was...' I think we maybe do meet halfway. I do like your poetry Gus - I think it brings out the man in me - is that cos I had a very strong mother and a weak father or is there a man in every woman just waiting to get out? I'll have to ponder that one.

Facsinating! What an absolutely amazing place to live. Do please email me some novel snippets -- I would love to read them. Thank you for your elucidation. And I was playing about with the karma/kama thing due to sometimes having some very silly moments. That was one of them. Oh yes, sometimes I am a mess of giggles. The Ian Banks Wasp Factory reference (sorry, it's rude of me to presume everyone has the same reading list) -- and this is a spoiler -- the protagonist is raised as a girl, tells the story as a girl, but is actually discovered to be, in a very wonderful and awry denouement, a boy. Virginia Woolf's Orlando lives through several centuries and changes sex every time the era shifts. They might be interesting references for you -- both are damned good reads and have a lot to say about sex and gender.

I see where Moxy is coming from with the tenses as I read through a few more times...
I get you - so I understood, but analysing each line you go from past to present and back again too many times...
I always enjoy reading your work and you have great style...
