A Blossom of Colours
The colour has no caste no religion
Just fetterless as a crowned pigeon,
The sun never marks any division
What's red, green, black or saffron.
All the colour is a single entity,
Like the author's artistic creativity;
And upon the asleep city
The moon mirrors itself - the beauty.
The colour is a life of how to live-
Taking a role of a new leaf,
It is a sugarcoated rose you sip
How or...

🪔 Dwelling Diwali 🕯️
Sight
Diwali blazes with a dazzling display
A celestial concert, pure festive array
Chromatic fusions of Rangoli art
Colorful hues ignite each heart.
Sound
Fireworks crackle and pop,
Music fills every hop,
Melodies that bring solace and cheer
Echoing through time, banishing fear
Smell
The aroma of incense fills the room
With cheerful peers in joyful bl...

The Finding of the true cross(Meskel)
From the 4 corners of Addis
Sunday school students
At a Meskel Square make a throng
All the way beating a drum
Ululating and singing a song
With a passion strong.
"Queen Helena (Elene)
Mother of Constantine the Great
Found the true cross
Buried under
A dump-mountain long
By those who read Jesus
The incarnated word wrong."
"Advised by a monk
Led by an incense smoke
The whe...

Raising The Standards (With Banners Held High) [MUSIC VERSION]
Raising The Standards (With Banners Held High) [MUSIC VERSION]
You said that you wanted a land fit for heroes,
a place to call home that they’d show off with pride
but somewhere along the way you forgot
the reasons they fought and the reasons they died.
They thought they were fighting for honour and justice,
suppressing the tyrants and saving our land -
but returned ...

Festival Fun
Spell-binding hammer-pounded sunlight retina-
flinches squint-eyed revel-faces. Crowd folk lost in
head clouds slow-revolve whilst time is on leave, passing
without fail – stopping to tell me not to hurry,
moving on unnoticed, startling late-crowds with
midnights and an early, well spent sun rise. Band-lulled
we join a synchronised gyro-walk, pacing the
flow-gyratory past fo...

The No Through Road Trip
We were nearly there
you in the driving seat
him with the map
denim shorts
patchwork patches
grandad cardies
Swan Vesta matches
Me in the back
with Giggly Sis
hippy frocks and
bright red socks
headscarves, dreads
and celtic art
all off to a festival
heard about on the vine
from a bloke down the pub
with a roll up
a nose ring
a quintessential
dog on string
We drove between hil...

'C' THE LANTERNS
Oh wondrous River Avon
Gurgling gently and so free
Dissecting Bradford-upon-Avon
On through Wiltshire to the sea
See the lanterns, hear the children
Watch their parents smile with glee
Once the festival has started
Please do not look for me
I'll be in the —anal Tavern
Hoping they've replaced the 'C'!
There is less than a week to go if you want to enter.

Scarlet Ribbons
She said that I looked Irish, as we sat and warmed our hands
Beating djembe herding us to sway and stamp and clap
I looked across and through the flames
That sighed and licked up over logs
Into her eyes, in all their eyes
The light: not fading, changed
Scarlet ribbons curling around
Stripes of orange a...
