Consumed

“No mere human cannot stand in a fire and not be consumed.” ~ Christabel LaMotte

Consume the news,
be confused, sing the blues, blow a fuse.

Consume potions, from drugs to Netflix,
  get lost in the Matrix.

Consume pornography,
  french-kiss misogyny.

Consume social media,
  group-think Expedia, personal-connection anemia.

Consume nature,
  become one with the savior.

This Is Capitalism

We live in a society of sanitized brutality.

Austerity increasing exponential wealth disparity, despairing for community.

Who has put a price on life to ration out a tiny slice,

and grip us in their vice, disguised as moral order righteousness?

Pretenders to the throne, to throw us only scraps and bones.

The corporations profit all by raised invoice and taxes slashed,

Stuck in a rut, don't know how to get past it
this leads to a disease of unspeakable nature
Stabbing friends in the back for a piece of that paper

Nobody cares about the children in...

Let Me Out, Let Me In

We have trapped the world in windows,

Picture frames, mirrors vexed with vanity.

The wind blows slack.

Slates roll off rooves in protest.

Branches crack the panes,

Let me out, let me in.

The sun pierces film;

Shifts the night;

Joins forces with the plight

Of street lamps.

Bouncers rays the lasers from their shards,

Beat the rain like caged anima...

Confessions Of A Self-Berating Splurger - A seasonal ditty

I know I’ve got a lot of stuff and no, I don’t need much more.

I know advertising’s full of guff and persuasion is what it’s for.

I know others needs are greater, but too often I forget

As I’m a self-berating splurger, oft wracked with deep regret.

No matter if you’re measuring in common, pounds or pence,

Too often it would seem that we have more money than sense.

I kno...
