Our Sun

When we walked in the sun, it shone for us;
Radiant, radiating warmth and love, I held you close.

Had I the chance, I would never have let go.

I don’t know what was brighter, that day:
your smile, or the sun’s rays colouring the world a sweet, rose hue.

Had I the chance, I would never have let go.

Radiant, radiating warmth and love, I held you ...

Ode to Music

Sweet notes ring,

anticipating spring

and the rebirth of all

that fell afoul of fall.

Music in the air,

wind blowing through hair

and laughter ringing out

like many bells in peal, no doubt.

Ever a sweet melody,

like birds, a-singing in the tree,

reminding me of nature’s beauty

and as a minstrel, of my duty.

I share with all my wondrous notes,

t...

Desolation

Footsteps echo in a silent wood.

Birds hush their singing.

Cold air fills the space.

A voice on the wind calls:

“There is nothing left”

Caught in the air, the memory of darker times.

Times when the woodland thrived; vivacious and colourful.

Before fire and hungry mouths ravaged the tranquil home of many, many vibrant beings.

Before emptiness an...

Reflections

Snow-capped mountains overlooking still waters,
the reflection as clear as reality;
a reality where everything is still.

Flower buds opened wide, shades of day and night
and birdsong hanging in the air, a mist of sound.

A ripple in the reflection; the song starts anew, the flowers
sway in the gentle mountain breeze and the snow falls afresh.

If only time could stop once more...

Serenity

Scent: sweet, gentle, floral,

effervescent. Flowers blooming in the garden,

red and pink, white and orange, blue and purple;

each and every one, different. Yet,

no less beautiful. Bees, with

intrigue, circle the flowers; farming

their much-needed pollen. A vibrant

yellow among a calm sea of colours.

Sanctuary

An ancient forest, beautiful, thoroughly

abandoned. Steeped in Elven architecture,

a reminder of a race for whom time ran out.

Pale stone juts out from behind silver bark and yellowed leaves.

Foliage rustles.

An autumnal breeze disturbing fallen leaves and detached twiglets.

Still, no one is here.

Two centuries have passed since the halls of these

elegant pal...

Salvation

Silent,

Wand’ring through boughs.

Stillness,

Frozen in time.

Gazing up at the celestial array of

ever changing, shifting, phasing patterns

signifying the potential of life, long-gone.

Alone,

wond’ring that perhaps,

just

perhaps,

the chance given was not:

salvation promised.

Elysium

Golden fields.

Elysium.

Happier days I have never felt, beside the one who calls to my soul

and dances with me through all eternity. To the end of time.

I could walk through these glittering fields, never wanting for anything, except

that love. The love which guides me,

warms me,

holds me, in deepest contentment.

I look, and I see, there!
