A mixture of rain and sunny spells
we have seen these last few days
Combined together they bring 
spectacular double rainbow displays

I still get as excited as a child
to see a rainbow appear
One of nature’s finest gifts 
to bring us all some much needed cheer

Daybreak on this Boxing Day
the magic of Christmas everywhere 
Cold and fresh where it touches
Winter’s whisper dances in the air

Soft pink and delicate blue skies
heralding the start of the day
Wild birds fluffing up their feathers
they keep warm and cosy this way

Well it has been quite a week
it started with a Ho Ho Ho 
As I got excited to see 
the first of this winters snow 

Everything looked so pretty 
covered in a dusting of white 
But snow is not great for travel   
especially in the dark of night

Our travel plans worked out fine
for the two nights in Gdańsk, Poland
Expectations were surpassed

The first snow of winter arrives
always a pretty sight to see  
Adults dust off plastic sledges 
excited children squeal with glee

A soft, fluffy layer of white 
like a duvet covers the ground  
Todays plans are on hold for now
there is too much fun to be found 

Footprints made from wellington boots 
track the paths to the tallest hills
Wrapped up in coats, hats, scarves and gloves

So often we are rewarded

Nature paints a dreamy picture 
creating ever changing views 
Candy floss clouds float in the sky
of gold, purple, pink and blue hues

stocked up on the batteries that they use
