Sitting, Wishing, Waiting

I was sitting, wishing, waiting for you to notice me, the truth blinded by ignorance.

I was sitting, wishing, waiting for you to love me, the essence of the breath that we take.

I was sitting, wishing, waiting for you to question me, the rules that we follow with closed eyes.

I was sitting, wishing, waiting for you to fight for me, the rights that our brothers and sisters fought for.

Climbed a Mountain

I climbed a mountain today.

As I looked up with fear I did say,

I can't, there is absolutely no way,

Then I climbed that mountain today.

Through the sadness you got out of bed,

Although most likely at some point you said,

Life would be easier to be someone else instead,

But you climbed that mountain today.

She looked in the mirror with judging eyes,

Picking apart h...

Bulletproof

Today, with a heavy heart, I learned no one is bulletproof to hate.

Guns loaded with bullets and with hate,

When will we say that enough is enough,

National mass shootings at this rate,

Bullet proof vests aren't even this tough.

As more people continue to die,

Others cling onto their guns,

Hate hovers above where the bodies lay,

Cause there is only so far you can run.

DNC

The party for the people

Do Not Care.

There are lines the people

Do Not Cross.

Like basic democratic values, like voting,

Damaged Now Corrupt.

To rape us of our rights they

Don't Need Consent.

How can you tell me that I

Dont Need Courage.

When we live in a world with

Deadly National Consumption.

Consumption of power instead of the

Desired Need [for] Colle...

She Exhales, The Wind

She breathes in, silence,

she exhales, the wind.

We are her future,

her blue skies, her clean air.

She cries, the rain.

As we pollute her oceans,

as we deplete her natural resources.

She is always hot,

she is cold, she is dry,

she is flooded.

She can't make up her mind,

because we control her mind.

How can she depend on a world

so selfish, so close ...

Pain

What do you know about pain?

Bullying,

Tears.

Locked bathroom doors.

What do you know about pain?

Abuse,

"You're ignorant."

Lay down, you're not sick.

Oh hush honey, no actual pain.

Rape,

We were friends,

No consent.

No no, sh, pain pain, like pain that will refine you as a person?

Abandonment,

why am I not good enough?

why don't you believe i...

Skin

His skin is black,

like the coffee in my cup,

like the air at night,

like the silence I don't understand.

Her skin is brown,

like the dust in the wind,

like the bark on the tree,

like the repression I don't understand.

Her skin is white,

like the blankness of the walls,

like the snow on the ground,

like the privilege I choose to ignore.

Silence of Wind

Wind can cool you down

But, it can also make the fire spread.

It dances from tree to tree,

Pulling the dead leaves from the branches.

Its always there, even on a calm day.

Sometimes we may not notice it,

Some days we try to ignore it,

As it violently lifts the sand off the ground.

The thing about wind is,

You can't see it,

You can feel it.

The only thing you hear ...
