Biography

I began writing poetry regularly in mid-2017. Before that I taught philosophy at a community college in Houston, Texas. I enjoy performance poetry, classical poetry, contemporary poetry, experimental poetry, song lyrics, and most other forms of human expression. My poems have appeared in Please Hear What I'm Not Saying, an anthology that benefits the UK charity MIND. I also have some poems in Landscapes, an anthology of poetry related to places of significance to the authors.

Samples

The Risk of Metaphor It makes sense That the sun is often Described as a disc, Because it looks like a disc Hanging in the sky Or tossed like a Frisbee on a lazy summer day, But the fact that it isn’t a disc, Not even a flame-white one, Is instructive, Just as our love Is not a rose.

Mr. Horton, I look forward to reading more of your work as I can find the time. 'The Risk of Metaphor' is both severe and funny at the same time. Much enjoyed.

May I ask why you included 'not even a flame-white one'?
