Twilight Run
At eight on the dot out of the house I trot.
Destination the coast and the Irish sea
The air is fresh cool crisp and invigorating
The promenade bids a chilly welcome to me
I was born to run and the twilight beckons
With fleet of foot energetically out I stride
The sky looms dark broody and angry
I have the tempestuous sea by my side
Crashing foam crested waves hound me
The spray showering me with its refreshment
Content and calm in a world of my very own
On and on I run on a mission heaven sent
Gulls cry squeal squawk and swoop menacingly
As in their domain I boldly venture without repent
A heartbeat away the Blackpool Tower shines
Standing tall strong and proud on the skyline
The day duly dawns on the distant horizon
Four miles under my belt and I am feeling fine
Time for me to break the spell and head home
Back to life back to reality just one more time
