From a glint in your eye

It began as a sparkle, a mere glint of the eye,

Rolling down your cheek, with a hint of emotion,

A misty water vapour, from cloud in your sky,

Filling broad streams in those mountains up high.

On a fast, rolling river, surging deep and wide,

I cascade, uncontrolled, on a white-water ride,

At the mercy of rocks on the Severn Bore tide,

I hurtle past speedboats on this river of love,

Bypassing safe harbour on my way to the sea.

The coastguard is alerted, helicopters above.

A grown man has gone missing; believed to be me!

I have laid myself prostrate, as an act of devotion,

Held aloft by some driftwood I found floating by,

Adrift on the tide of a vast swelling ocean,

An ocean of love, from a tear in your eye.

Adroit use of language combined with emotive imagery do their
job here in fine style.

I found this very moving, John, and also enjoyable. It is very well written, as Manish says.

This is so beautiful written, John B. I imagined myself there as I read it. A masterpiece as always, my friend!
Thank you.
