Louise Fazackerley has triumphed at the Wigan/ Write Out Loud heat  in the Superheroes of Slam competition organised by Commonword. Louise who has previously been a runner-up, was the winner on an occasion that Write Out Loud's Julian Jordon described as "a wondrous night of stunning talent". Others are at Oldham (22 September),  Manchester - open (29 September), Manchester - youth (6 October), Newcastle (9 October), Leeds (12 October), Crewe (13 October), and Liverpool (14 October). The grand final is Manchester's Yard theatre on Thursday 20 October. More details on the Write Out Loud Gig Guide.

Great pic. Well done Louise. Was this a melancholic piece? sorry I wasn't there as it sounded like a great night, Win

Izz is right - judging was very difficult (my first experience), because the poems and performances were so good. Certainly by local standards. I also liked the atmosphere - very friendly despite the competitive element. More enjoyable than I expected tbh. Julian was a good compere and Joy was fun on the horn!!

That's one of my favourite photos of the night. The poem was about an injured bird, hence the positioning of Louise's hands. Great that you managed to capture that, Darren. Photography is indeed an artform.

It's a shame we lost the congratulation comments - or were they on the original article advertising the event?

Congratulations again, anyway. It was a great night, packed with talent. You wouldn't have wanted to be a judge... x
