Normal People
An old man
tries to be helpful
he is fumbling to fill cups
for his grandchildren
at the water fountain in the park
the problem is
he cannot turn on the water
and fill the cups at the same time
he needs another hand
then all of a sudden
a teenage boy shows up
who quietly volunteers to help
the boy is polite
he is kind and courteous
he restores the old man's faith
in teenagers and in the future
perhaps things are not as bad
as he thought
it is not good to listen to the daily news
because it is nothing but bad news
when most normal people
are not like that
but instead go about their daily lives
helping each other out
there is no contradiction
in the ages
there are only hands helping hands.

Perhaps excepting the effects of illness, it is likely that any "old"
person who is rude and unpleasant was probably of the same ill-nature before the years caught up. My own eighth decade is
only too ready to be polite and good-natured towards my fellows
and I'm only too happy to meet the same in return.
