I Found A Fiver In The Snow

I Found A Fiver In The Snow

I found a fiver in snow

Well, not in the snow but just below

Two inches deep, but even so

This was my lucky day y’know

I found a fiver in the snow

I found a fiver in the snow

It wasn’t snow. It was ice though

Which is harder, as you know

I couldn’t, pick it up and go

And so I kicked it, with my toe

It wouldn’t give, but even so

I found a fiver in the snow

A fiver is a lot of dough

I found a fiver in the snow

It’s finders keepers, don’t you know

I set my ducks up in a row

And bent, to give the ice a blow

I found a fiver in the snow

A fiver is a lot of dough

It’s too much money to forgo

I found a fiver in the snow

And though I gave a mighty blow

I couldn’t melt the bleedin’ snow

And couldn’t shift it with my toe

But once you start, you can’t let go

I found a fiver in the snow

A fiver is a lot of dough

It’s too much money to forgo

And I’m a stubborn so-and-so

I found a fiver in the snow

I noticed it was not yellow

And that meant that I could lick the snow

So like an urban Eskimo

In temperatures of five below

I started lapping to-and-fro

I found a fiver in the snow

A fiver is a lot of dough

It’s too much money to forgo

And I’m a stubborn so-and-so

So once I start, I won’t let go

I found a fiver in the snow

Four hours there, with cheeks aglow

Aches and pains, you don’t wanna know

Aggravated lumbago

Scabby lips… impetigo

Snow burns and frostbite, but even so

I found a fiver in the snow

A fiver is a lot of dough

It’s too much money to forgo

And I’m a stubborn so-and-so

So once I start, I won’t let go

This was my lucky day y’know

I found a fiver in the snow

Lovely yet again. We used to play that ancient trick of a banknote tied to a piece of fishing-line, and hide round the corner to jerk it away when they bent down. One old geezer fell over in fright and broke something so we were forbidden to do it ever again.

Keep up the good work! Jennifer

Thanks Po, John, Alan and M.C. and everyone who pressed like.
I got the idea for this one from a kid when I was at school. He found a fiver, and spent 4hours licking the ice to get it out.
I can remember superglueing 10pences to the pavement (not as flash as pounds) and watching the fun.

Cheers Kevin

This brings back a memory of my own.
TRUE -
I found a fiver at my feet
While walking slowly down our street
No one had seen it lying there
Except for me with downward stare
Slowly navigating between two sticks
And carefully acquired mobility tricks!
With considered care I leaned down -
And must have resembled a circus clown,
But my fingers stretched beyond my eyes
And finally seized the abandoned prize.
And whilst I sipped from victory's cup,
The best reward by far was standing up!!

Reminds me of the (true story) of the proprietor of an arcade, in Newcastle-on-Tyne, who cemented a line of new 1£ coins to the pavement of the street outside - making a trail to the arcade.
1) They disappeared the next day - but it was all in the local paper.
2) The Corporation sent him a bill for repairs to the pavement.
3) Don't ask me for any details, it was probably 30 years ago. But I saw it myself and so did the person who dug out the cash. No it wasn't me, I was working in an adjacent office.

Wait until it’s melted snow
Then come back for another go.
