Muffets And Spiders
(Sinister nursery rhyme challenge. Your turn...)
Crawling through the undergrowth,
On, "Tick tock," legs all spindle thin,
Eight in number, like it's eyes,
A spider came a'wandering.
Spying out a sleeping girl,
Resting on her tuffet,
The spider had a dark desire,
To eat up a young Muffet.
Just like she'd munched on curds and whey,
He thought he'd munch on her,
And set to spin his greatest web,
Around the sleeping girl.
Oh how he would dine on this infant so fine,
He would eat for weeks and weeks,
But as he span his silken twine,
The girl began to speak.
"Oh little spider, with your net of quietly spun silk,
I must admit I've had my fill of curds and whey and milk,
And though my slumber to your eyes seemed both deep and true,
I wished to lure you close enough that I could munch on you".........

Reminds me of a poem my auntie used to tell me. I've forgotten most of it but it ends in the little girl chasing away the monster by telling it she eats them. Then finishes by eating her brother's model train. How come children's rhymes are so bizarre? I love this one though.
