the bird and the puddle

there is a small grey puddle

in a cave in a far-off country

that may or may not exist

and at night a plain black bird

flies a thousand miles

to land in this puddle

and when its feet and legs

raise the temperature of the puddle

by just 0.001%

it is enough to warm the water

and because of this

the most beautiful orchid

is finally allowed to bloom

and I think that is humanity

Could this be David Attenborough and Brian Cox stuck in a lift, running out of air Stu? No I thought not. I love the whole image and the playfulness of it. It could even be a dig at the pomposity of gurus at least I hope it is, they often deserve it!

i think they are beautiful but unfortunately anything vaguely green that comes near me tends to die so i just go to garden centres to stare at them instead.

I get a wild orchid bloom each year in a pot of hostas. It has self-sown there.

Unlikely, but if it brings hope to many who am I to argue?
