Hi Laura- the poem is not autobiographical- though it does resonate of days I spent in day-time bars with the sun pouring through the frosted windows of Liverpool, Dublin and London pubs. :o)

Hi Tom, Its the Iris for me but I do like lilies too. I had never heard of the NYTC till now that is! just had a quick listen to intercontinental track drift though. I think my cats run them a close second if you threw them into a small room full of musical intruments and scatterd a few flakes of tuna around the place. H

Sorry Laura I've only just seen your message from Nov 2nd. I'm glad that you're getting the better of things and you're probably right that when I wrote that I was probably in a similar frame of mind. I'll try for the next Tudor.
Cheers.
Neil:)

Hi Laura (Leiberfraumilch), you had me worried for a moment. Thought I'd trangressed an unfathomable rule somewhere. I go with my observation as you know and what I wrote was about a refreshing group of young foreign ladies at the local Wetherspoons who quite uplifted the atmosphere from the usual retired stolid folk who sit around. Hope you're OK though.

Laura, you are so astute. I didn't just 'fiddle' with the last verse, I nearly tore out my hair - would I or wouldn't I include it? Finally, I decided to go with it, for another 'dimension' maybe, for absolute clarification of intent, but the 'pulling power' of the other four verses is definitely compromised. If we were face to face, privately, I would be even more honest.
What is written on your right fist? Is it 'fake'?

Thx for the comments/feedback on my last Laura. You understood my thinking behind the poem completely. Daft I know but I searched for a couple of hours just to find the right word for the title Haha. To get something that eluded enough without telling, to be understated without being totally obscure.

'Ey up, Monkey!
Thanks for reading Janis.
She was a bit special, wasn't she?
We have a kid in our village who reminds me of her. I first saw her about 3 years ago when she was 13 at a school talent competition. So shy she didn't speak or look up. When the music started this huge voice opened up from the bowels of the earth. I shuddered.
She's in a local band now called the Lucettes, which you can find on YouTube.
On another front (and pulling in the thread of sexy songs) did you know that Leonard Cohen's Chelsea Hotel was about his relationship with JJ?

Re: Townships, thanks very much Laura, I know people have very strong views about RSA and I did attempt something similar to this a while back but varied the theme because I am leading a group on African poetry in October. Your kind endorsement has more value than you may have realised.

i think we should have a poem in an anthology do. i think its better that your works going out like that. you can see its standard in relation to the other work. I spose online books are all the thing these days but it proves to me how new writers have all the fresh talent x well done x
ps i love that its got something to do with me...ah my young protege miss taylor is doing so well...particularly as sometimes you cant see why youre reading, what is the point. when your on stage and the lights in your eyes and its a circus. Im so glad i got the message of that poem through. makes it all worthwhile. i may have said this aready but i am now ready to retire ;)
