Hi Starfish
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on 'Complicit'.
It was a long long time ago, but I'm pretty sure it was only £10.
I think I chose SA as it was the easiest place to emigrate to, and to get back from.
Sad eh?

Hi Starfish Thanks for the kind comments on Annus MIrabilis. Glad you spoted the Larkin connection. I did it on purpose. Both poems are about 1963 and start of with a Beatles reference and 'problems' with girls. Paul Farley has also done a gone one about that year, but he focuses on the death of Sylvia PLath. If you want o try to find it, it's called 1th February, 1963 and is a collection Called THe Ice Age.

Hey Starfish,
The cat poem is a true story. Came home from work one day and was making a cuppa, looking out through the kitchen window onto the street. Our neighbours cat had a stretch, had a good look around and went to sleep under their tree. Later on various screams and tears were heard and I asked next door what was going on and they said the lady opposite came home and found her cat dead curled up under the tree. I prefer to think, romantically perhaps, that the cat knew the end was nigh and took his leave of life in a calm feline way. Not a bad way to go. Much better than the poor old field mouse . . .

Hello Starfish,
When I wrote "Cottage Sleaze" the word "beautiful" didn't seem the most apt description! You will gather that not all the lines are my own. (And, No, I did not do a lot of research for this).

hello Starfish,
Many thanks for your kind comments on "The Masterly Strategy..."
Not my usual genre but I felt rather strongly about the lack of action which seemed to be the public mood.
(I have reverted to type in my latest offering!)

hello Starfish,
Glad you enjoyed "Then As Lives Longest Learns Most". I'm rather flattered that you think my stuff is worth reading. Most of the time I don't think it was worth writing.
The most honest line in it is, "My motives were not allus honest". I never went on any marches and certainly never enjoyed any success with women, two character traits I retain to this day!

Hello there - apropos your comment about my own regarding UK
intelligence & diplomatic services. I and members of my immediate
family are in the higher vulnerability category and it seems totally
legitimate to be curious about how a government served by the
two most experienced and well informed services in history should,
even now, still be playing catch-up in its dealings with this disease.
Add to that the long historical connection between this country and
the alleged source of infection and it looks like the Sunday Times
article now causing waves and a fierce rebuttal from, No 10 has
similar questions.
