A Shadow of Myself
Have you ever asked why? Questioning things, you have done or didn’t do? We come into the world with very limited knowledge. We hope we learn the tools we need to survive, but in most cases, this isn’t the case. We struggle with choices and make mistakes that seem to rock our world. When we are young, we think we have all the answers only we do not. Hopefully, the mistakes we make are fixable.

HEAVY BAG
HEAVY BAG
heavy
bag
hung in
the way
on my
toes
in defensive
pose
shadow
boxed
a
paradox
when down
took kicks
blocked
the hits
hands
up
here comes
the upper cut
against
the ropes
losing
hope
down for
the count
back i
bounced
could barely
stand
but had
a plan
twelfth
round
opening
found
never
blinked
took the
final swing
won the
belt
with a knockout

CHAMP
CHAMP
remember wearing
that belt
how good
being best felt
were the
town's toast
celebrated with
a roast
walked down
the street
gushed over by
fans you'd meet
in public's
eye
bright shining
light
earned crowning
glory
became yesterday's
story
pushed aside
marginalized
used to
ask
for a
photograph
lots of
hanger's on
now they're
all gone
question your
value
no one ...

MAGIC TO BE MADE
MAGIC TO BE MADE
what if
you knew
wasn't going to
come to you
wait a
long...long time
for no reason
or rhyme
not sure
before
nothing to fear
anymore
all write
then
grab paper
and pen
goals unrealized
in print
come to life
remembering
dreams
will get you
into stream
going back to
the old
will put you
into flow
nostalgic for
the past
share so it
will last

SHIFT
SHIFT
they say
ride or die
only have
one life
don't have
to stay
til you
fade
one way
street
same
scenery
next exit
stage left
to yourself
say yes
no need to
stick around
going over
old ground
get into
gear
new trails
to steer
wings to
be spread
burning
tread
clutch
released
lightning
greased
full
throttle
freedom
unbottled
forward
thrust
leaving
dust

LONE WOLF
LONE WOLF
make my
own rules
run on
rocket fuel
kickin' ass
front of
the class
breaking ceiling
glass
rubber meets
road
not dragging
brass
going for
gold
gonna take
command
be in high
demand
in short
supply
just me
myself and i
want my
time
better get
in line
not a face
in the crowd
to me kings
will bow
be received
by queens
to the city
get the key

BACKPACK
born a
rolling stone
meant to
travel alone
dreams
unrealized
lived
marginalized
never had
a home
continued to
roam
no one else
around
find new
stomping grounds
nowhere to
settle down
moved town
to town
wandering days
through
nothing else
to do
back to
familiar turf
faceless
no worth
no possessions
or connections
treated like
an infection

Enoughness
Our ultimate journey
in life brings us
to the place of
enoughness...
You are enough.
I am enough.
I see you
beyond the labels
You see the same
spirit in me.
Your enoughness,
my enoughness
melds together
to create
the oneness
of love
and that is
enough.

Soul Scars
There you are beaming
at everyone you meet
posting highlights,
keeping it together.
But, I see your soul scars...
loneliness, heartbreak,
disappointment, addiction,
depression, despair...
It's enough to turn
most souls to dust.
But not us.
Diamonds are made from
coal under pressure.
Show your scars,
keep the faith,
and shine on.
