Magi

I know that, strictly speaking, the Magi, are still on camel back following a star but I also know everyone is bored with the story by epiphany so here is my final Christmas related poetry blog. Courage, doubt, fear and wonder, in the story of the Magi. What had they been part of? Like us, they wondered whether ‘this was a future they wanted to know’…

Rotten Fruit
And so it was
And time knew no boundaries
Thrust back to twelve years old
Twelve years of joy and blessings and unfortunate occurences
But we don't talk of those
For that brings guilt, shame.
Darkness on light kills joy.
Killjoy!
Bringer of ill thought
Bringer of death
Death of present and future.
Always living in the past
And they say, don't live in the past
Live in the here and no...

Going Nowhere Fast
At first glance we can safely claim to have it all
An observer would say we had a bright tomorrow
Yet beneath this glimmering facade lies darkness
The prospect of pain and possibly, sorrow
I met you at the Albany races when my ebb was low
Fast thoroughbreds reflected in your hazel eyes
We lost our shirts but won each other's hearts
For people like us there was no greater ...

Lost Boy (AKA Lost Child and Lost Girl)
Lost boy, find your way home
Reach out your arms
You’re no longer alone
Lost boy, please don’t be scared
There’s a safe place waiting
You just need to get there
People may judge you
And that is OK
If they have a problem
We can keep them at bay
Thoughts and feelings are normal
Its everyday life
The future is yours
So keep that in sight
Lost boy, why are you afraid
It’s not your ...

The Dig
The Dig
Thousands of years later
They found the sacred site
And used their soft sable brushes
To clear the earth from their finds
Here was what looked like a drinking vessel
Owned by a Covid-19 man called Persil
And look part of a plate with the lettering McDon
So possibly owned by someone from the Northern Zone
Inflation devices with logos of Asda and Lidl
Ancie...

YES! I AM READY FOR IT.
Now when i look back to my life after all these years of pain and sorrow,
only to realise that how far i have come.
Looking back to my older dark soul,
i am proud of my growth.
I am just 20 and i know there's a long long road ahead,
and i am ready for it.
This one last look to my past,
with teary eyes and a bright smile.
Now i am leaving behind my past, ...

Young Love By the Sea
Here we are, alone by the sea,
bursting with joy at finding each other.
There’s a wonderful, giddy feeling,
as if all nature were smiling.
The diamond on your finger gleams
like the shining path
of the sunrise on the water.
Our wedding bands were forged
from family rings and new gold.
They join us and our families
in the ancient, unbroken circle of life.
We are like the pla...

Event Horizon
Event Horizon
Yesterday
I looked out of my window
The man taking his dog for a walk
The mother and child hand in hand
School children hopping and skipping along
Neighbours chatting over a fence
The postman delivering parcels
A cat slinking under the hedge
The wind whipping leaves
The rain falling
Yesterday
Today
I looked out of my window
The dog ...

Flame
Flame
We set the world alight
With incendiary thoughts
That burned like sulphur
Cut with lithium
A million candles
That lit every corner
Of our flammable minds
And shone like supernovas
That was an age ago
When new ideas
Were like matches
Striking on sandpaper
When the faintest
Flintlock spark
Could flash against powder
And deliver shot
...

What is next?
What is next? I ask God
Tell me please because I feel so lost
Losing control of all that is around
What is next? I ask God
Then a small voice howls in the wind saying, "Worry about now!"
Smile, Breathe, Relax
Don't worry about the future nor the past
