Australian Humour

Australian Humour

Australian humour's dry-like

Dry and droll's can be

And as I am Australian

That's what you'll get from me

The humour which I give out

At times is hard to follow

Now Don you must be kidding me

That's really hard to swallow

You think the python snake

Which ate someone's pet cat

Is just a joke that I made up?

It grabbed it from its ...

Crap

Crap

I am an expert poet

At writing useless crap

I guess it is because

Because it just so hap -

Happens that I've had no

Train in culture stuff

Poetry? Just one year

Still round-edge sorta rough

But hey? You could just like me

(Or flush me down the sink)

More of Matthews crap again?

I don't care what you think

You're asking “Why do you Don

Catharsis

Catharsis

Preamble

Catharsis is the process of releasing and therefore providing relief from strong or repressed emotions

Have you ever let your mind go

Let it go, roam free?

Don't know where it's heading?

Where it's end will be?

This was one of these....

Some poems spill out easy

While others grind out, hard

Which one do I want to post?

Which one ne...

Funny Yes. Serious Very. Mobile Phone Addiction

Funny Yes. Serious Very. Mobile Phone Addiction

Our lives are dictated by mobiles

Instead of the other way round

We should be treating them as our servants

Not masters, let them boss us around

I've added some clips to this poem

On the surface they might come 'cross as fun

We may kid ourselves “I'm not addicted”

But these clips show our masters have won

Don...

Mobiles More Important Than Children

Mobiles More Important than Children

I've just read a letter to the paper

Which made me feel angry and sad

This grand-dad took his grand-kids to swim school

Looking round made him sad, also mad

From the beginning to the end of the lesson

Parents weren't interested in their child

Excited kids beaming up for approval

Saw parents all glued to mobiles

We've be...

Sync

Sync

My pen wants to prose but my mind wants to rhyme

I'm trying to get out of this bind

I should attempt prose but I'm stuck in a rut

'Cause my pen wants to sync with my mind

Why Do I Write?

Why Do I Write?

My poetry won't change the world

That needs a move en mass

My cries and pleas are wasted

So is my writing 'trash'?

So why then do I write at all?

If no-one heeds my work

I need to bring what's inside out

From inside where it lurks

As poets I guess we all do this

We write just for ourselves

If others like our work, that's fine

(If n...

Fun or Serious? I Can't Decide?

Fun or Serious? I Can't Decide?

I've got so many poems

Lined up, where to start?

Will I post a serious one?

Or let a fun depart?

Looking at your poems

I really can't decide

What you WOLers favour

Fun or serious side?

Most verse seems quite serious

Which loses me you see

I'm much more into Milligan

Humour territory

Now why do I get lost wit...

Holiday Build. R and R Centre for Expired Poets

Pereamble

The Centre has been built to aid  recuperation of expired WOL poets.  Pic shows our nymphs on floor waiting first influx.

You'll notice I've been absent

Thought I'd take a break

Revitalise my engines

Revitalise them make

So what you gonna do Don?

On your holidays?

Thought I'd build a Centre

Risky Poet

Risky Poet

I am a risky poet

Some things I put on screen

At times attract me trouble

Things I do want seen

Those of you who know me

Will know I mean no harm

OK I may cast pebbles

Make ripples in the calm

Recently I picked a rock

Risky (and also brave)

When cast upon WOL's smooth-like calm

Produced a tidal wave

I rarely try for tidal waves

Silly

Silly

Peamble

I thought some  humour would help lift our spirits

At times I feel quite silly

Silly as a wheel

Which then began me thinking

Why silly do I feel?

I do not like to lay blame

When I go willy-nilly, but

'Twas mum and dad who gave me

A gene for going silly

Now if you're a geneticist

You'll know this gene is rare

And if by chance you'v...

He's Damaging Our Website, Breaking All the Rules

Preamble

This poem is based on the latest venom-based hate mail just received from from Big Sal (Temple Builder). I will not put up with this sort of treatment. Moderators – please show him the gate. I will continue making public any further hate mail received until something is done.
