THE GALMPTON ROBIN

The robin sang his song to me,

When I walked out by Galmpton Quay.

Alone he sang at twilight's gleam

Beside the darkening Devon stream.

 

I am life, his sweet song said,

An angel's voice above my head,

Exulting in his melody,

The robin sang his song for me.

 

The tiny songbird touched my heart

That day beside the dreaming Dart.
