Almost Repaired Shit! I’ve done it again. Forgotten to put my heart in my bag with my keys Neglected to hang up my feelings with the coats in the wardrobe I’ve been remiss, not packed my emotions up with summer clothes Omitted to roll up my soul into the sock draw I should have laid this blanket of passions on the bed. Not worn it around my shoulders instead. So when I see you it’s like an old wound opening And all of these things I’ve forgotten to remember to forget Make the pain fresh and bloody, ruining my make-up. Dripping down my chin, making my collar wet. Maybe I’ll write a post-it, put it on the dresser ‘stuff it all in the loft, get on with your life’. But maybe not. Travelling Man Travelling man has seen places And looked at faces That others dream about. Travelling man has wandered the planet Through dappled light forests And ancient lost cities Travelling man has walked among foreign tongues And watched as unreal sunsets unfold in the sky Now? Travelling man travels 20 minutes Each way Sits at his desk Stares at the screen His computer a waterfall. Travelling man goes to the kitchen Tramping through salt mines to make his lunch Travelling man answers the phone Heart thudding as a jaguar Emerges from the foliage. Travelling man climbs Machu Picchu When mounting the stairs, Dives deep into crocodile waters When taking his bath Travelling man does his laundry In the Amazon using coiled snakes as scrubbing brushes. Sometimes he looks around And sees the dirty kitchen tiles. Emma Robinson

Hi Emma, thanks for the comment on my communion poem. I'm really glad you liked it... there's loads more catholic childhood stuff in my memory to be mined I think (most of it dismal lol)
