Biography
A painter & printmaker by profession, I have run art galleries, held painting workshops and been artist in residence in primary schools. Throughout my adult life, I have written stories and poems and published a monthly community newspaper in the Cornish village where I live. Now retired,I am a member of a theatre group which writes and performs Cornish folk opera. I am also a long-standing member of Writers Ink, a writing group who meet every 2 weeks.
Samples
Brownie Points "Are you free on Friday," said my daughter's text, "and breakfast on Saturday?" quickly came next. Am I being asked out for a night on the tiles? Then, "Can you babysit whilst we visit the Isles of Scilly?" Oh silly, silly cow! You'd think I would have wised up by now! I could have said no, put her nose out of joint because I'll never cash in these Brownie points earned caring for homes, kids, pets and more. Seems when you've retired, that's what mothers are for! They don't realise I've a life of my own, breathed a sigh of relief when the last one left home. I've done the mothering bit, when all's said and done, I'd rather be out with my friends, having fun.

Welcome to WOL. I like Brownie points. its got a nice flow to it particularly with the dialogue at the beginning. Great.
