Biography
I write poetry, short stories and performance pieces. My body of work is quite varied. Current favourites are -poetry to perform -true-to-life short stories My newest group is Inspire Aloud which will bring together creative voices from all genres of spoken word and written word as well as song writers. I have been involved with Pemberton Pens for a number of years and am currently chair. I have run a number of other groups in the past. During the pandemic, I ran two zoom groups. Poets Pick Pockets ran for just over a year. I also ran a 10 week group on the poetry of religion. I was president of the University of Warwick Poetry Society from 1999 to 2002. I was involved with running workshops, writing newsletters and putting together annual collections. Writing groups I have attended include Headspace spoken word in Bolton and Sunshine Writers and Stanza in Wigan. I am generally known to the Wigan writing community, and I usually perform at the WOL open mic night at The Old Courts. I have also performed at various nights in Greater Manchester. I was awarded a grant as a disabled writer to bring a storytelling piece to the stage. My first published work is a book of poetry collated for my Mum's 70th birthday, which includes a vast and varied collection of my poetry. It can be purchased directly from me for £10. I always welcome feedback and also opportunities to get involved in things. You can contact me directly by email.
