Kinsella (part iv) In the Cave.

Kinsella's soul-searching in the cave

sees a glimmer of light,

climbs back inside her body

and is surprised to find it still fits.

She ignores the doors

inscribed with ''Doom'' and ''Gloom,''

knocks on the door to ''Illuminate.''

A multitude of voices sing

''Hark the herald! Angels cry!''

(a distortion of a Christmas Carol)

and the pipes of peace out of tune.

Kinsella's scream shatters her dream,

her shoulders fall

as she feints against the wall of confusion

and the devil's worshippers whisper;

''the glimmer of light's an illusion.''

Nice one. I don't think you needed the line about the distorted Christmas carol though.

Hi Janet,

Did I miss parts I and II? Like others I find this intriguing (and a little puzzling.) I would be interested to know what inspired this - or would that break the spell?

Regards,
A.E.

Thanks Dave for your interest in Kinsella.

Thanks Isobel, i don't much care for sad endings either, maybe she should under-go a 'Restoration period.'

A bit of a sad ending though Janet - I'm hopeful that Kinsella will find peace - there has to be a further edition - I don't accept sad endings.

Can't work out why I keep re-reading this Janet. You've hooked me and I don't know how. It must work!

Hi Nicky and thanks for your encouragement.
In answer to your question, i think we all have a bit of the devil in us. It isn't about winning a battle or even a war, it's about getting the balance right without hurting or getting hurt.
Inner conflict of emotions.
This might well be the last edition of Kinsella.
