Wild and woolly

They want to cut my hair

They say it's wild and woolly.

It seems its length upsets them,

and so I'm being bullied.

I like my hair this length,

I think I'll grow it longer.

It's warm and natural and free

Like Samson it makes me stronger.

They're trying to wear me down

The dripping tap technique.

They say it makes me strange,

that I look like an aging freak.

Cor blimey you lot, I'm retired.

I can look however I please.

I could have myself a big Afro

Or grow it down to my knees.

So leave me alone please, won't you,

Scruffy, contented, unrefined.

If, in public, I embarrass you,

then walk ten paces behind

◄ Feelings on my car being broken into

I must admit - I'm not overly fond of long locks on an aging man or woman LOL but whatever does it for you Dave! On your head be it. A fun poem, celebrating the need to determine one's own life - be it back hair or head hair - the choice is yours... I can identify with this. x
