Hi Mark. About Mobility poem. Thanks and I entirely take your point. There are plenty of glamorous older models around . It just seemed incongruous that whereas the adverts usually appear in the mags and back pages that I imagine are associated with the risks of the older generation the models are out of tune with those readers. It would not be the case in charity fundraising on TV for example where no horror is spared to plumb the emotional depths. By they way , I am sorry that you have the incapacity you mention; I took up motorcycling after a forty year gap, and must admit I just lost my nerve in the end! Especially as my wife was trembling with fear at home.

You are right in what you say, Mark about the bigger picture. In this specific case one can never know all the ins and outs of the really personal stuff - it would be nice to think he would have dealt with it in good time. I suppose it was the public display going on for weeks on end that galled me and prompted me to put thoughts into words. I know there was no love lost with the son who only visited him rarely. Sad but there we are.
Thanks for your input.

Your mentioning my musical phase (pro freelance keyboard) is interesting and thanks for noting it so warmly. You know the ropes of song writing and poetry; I have a bit of a blind spot for putting words to music - I seem to hit rock bottom - why I don't know. My efforts so far have been convoluted wittiness a la Noel Coward! It is a tricky game trying to blend forms. Anyway best of luck with your efforts and thanks again for the interest Mark.

Hi M.C.
Merely wanted to thank you for taking the time to read and comment on 'Dave's Last Stand'
I've just moved up to Scotland, which perhaps influenced the poem, which is, as noted in the title, Part 7 of what started out (3 years or so ago) as a single piece that developed into a trilogy, and so it goes.
None of the content is necessarily my belief, but just the way I see the Bastards at work in my world.

If you should ever be so bored, the first 6 parts of the trilogy appear in my profile

Your knowledge of the KKK does you credit, and it is a tricky idea to put a poem to it - but it was as brief as I could make it with impact, I hope. Thanks for the reference to the film - I will check that. I did see a pretty poor documentary recently on one family in the KKK and they tried to play the whole anti black thing down!

I appreciate your full appraisal on There is no God.. thanks for taking the time; the poem came about as a kind of comment on how divisive this subject can be, rather than a defence of religion - which after all has so many affiliates who cannot agree on the fundamentals.
I would say that there is a mystery in life which leads me away from purely material considerations, and I would go with your theory about continuing on after death; this is a hot potato in society (how can you discuss anything that can't be proved). I have had some unusual experiences that back up that version of life, but that's another story. It'll never be resolved, I fear. (not in this life anyway!)

Hi M.C
Thanks for your comments on going with the flow. Yes you are right it does refer to Manchester. Although not a native Mancunian the North west has become my adopted home. But I feel that this journey can be quite familiar to any number of people commuting in any conurbation. I have memories of being carried up the escalator by the crowds at Victoria station in London in the rush hour many years ago.

Thanks MC for your appreciation. I was struggling in those early days with song copies, as I had a limited repertoire apart from classical stuff (off limits). this taught me to improvise . I was definitely invisible, but your experience is very relevant and it is sad so few examples of that art remain, however tawdry. The East End was full of singers and old music hall songs. Great!!

Your comment on 'Truncheon for Luncheon' was appreciated M.C.
The reluctance of the NUM to call a proper ballot. The formation of the new NUM (Nottinghamshire Union of Mineworkers), overzealous Policing coupled with a lack of direction by Commanders. The refusal to compromise and see the bigger picture between the Government, Scargill and Thatcher all added to the 'Battle of Orgreave'.
I hope I was able to pen my effort with an open minded approach to the incident. Thank you.

I take it mother looked on drink as a sort of Jekyll and Hyde juice, that makes Scoutmasters view their charges from a different prospective, and funnily enough, as a result of our evolvement to a more tolerant society is now un-shockingly taken for granted as part of their remit.

Thank You for your Comment on "Above The Skyline"

Thank you for your honesty, I will soon post a Revised Copy of this material.i will be the first to admit that my story is not yet a mature story. This story has not yet been revised properly, I will take the time to revise it soon. I began typing this and 30 minutes later posted it online. My reasoning to post it was to see what others thought of the story before I invest hours in my writing. This was originally just a way to blow some time. From the looks of the story and now seeing your comment I am inspired to create a more sophisticated version of this story. Just as a 15 year old student I sometimes struggle with the right words to say.

Thank you for honest feedback.
Aly.

Hi,

thank you for the last post you have given me. I have been mulling it over, digesting it. Yes in many ways I think the same way as you do. But, I do fail to understand why the complete unfairness of our collective existence in this realm.

At least you understand the frustrations. Yet, you had the courage to voice your thoughts. My supposition is that many feel the same way as you and I, but are still fearful, both of themselves and the world in which they live.

You are brave Mister Newberry. I hope you can imbue that upon others, in some way, so they too, can explore freedoms of conversation.

Your comments were well received. Keep going blue.

Best wishes from Mike
