Hi Louise,
Thought I'd let you know about our Liverpool poetry night - since you are planning to do something in the city soon.
The LIVER Bards, as the sessions are now called, take place on first Tuesday of each month in the performance space at the beautiful Shipping Forecast bar, Slater St, city centre, L1 4BW, starting 8pm.
It's a straightforward open-mic with poems of humorous, philosphical, political and spiritual content especially welcome.
The first of these new-style nights is tomorrow Tue 7 Sept, starting 8pm. The postal code for the Shipping Forecast is L1 4BW.
PS Am I right in thinking there is a read thru of the Wigan material this coming Thursday in Wigan. What time and where do I turn up? x
Steve

Hi Louise,
Just read your profile poems (recommended by a friend as you don't seem to post much on the main blog.) "Daisychain Summer" is a wonderful piece of work, steeped in both vulnerability and a refreshing honesty about past mistakes. It made me feel sad for the sexually exploited, but happy in the knoiwledge that the years bring experience, and through that wisdom. It should be required reading for all fourteen year old girls.
Regards,
A.E.

Hello Louise, cheers for the comment, I worry about how I come across performance wise cos I think I just stand there and read, but I do enjoy it. I do appreciate seeing proper performers like you. I just feel horribly nervous and concentrate on locking my knees so they don't send me off the stage like a pneumatic drill. Glad you liked Dad :)
Thanks
Rachel

Fucking love The Commuters, so good! Nice staccato rhythm really getting to the heart of the horror of it all. Great economy with language too... good work.

Louise thanks for your comments on my Re-awoken. I wrote the thing in 5 minutes and then added the extra "I'm awake" about 3 days later when I read it out loud and it lacked something.
I love you "Stuck Unsaid". Did you read it at the slam in Wigan? You have the happy knack of getting power and feeling into the right number of words and saying stuff others of us would be happy to have said.
Nice work

Hey Lou, thanks for the support. Will get my writing hat on again soon when people have stopped getting married and work is less intense.
This is gorgeous:

Oh, Louise, you are such a flatterer! Thank you for your blush-making comments. What a good excuse to read your works on here, and thank goodness, really like them...
I really enjoy the rhythms you create. There's a real beat and flow to what you write, never mind the wonderful, graphic imagery of your words. Simple, stark and too, too evocative...

Hi Louise - I've just read your 'samples' (that sounds too medical) and really enjoyed them.
I've eaten too many words
and the glut of shameful silences
is swallowing my tongue.
That especially. Ooh - and 'Daisychain Summer' too. Very real.

"Daisychain Summer" is a great poem, showing the emotions of loving a free spirit... did I comment on that one before? No? It looks familiar somehow...

Lovely jewels of poems, the rhymes exactly right, and without undue fuss, drive the whole poems wonderfully.
Just the right amount of play with the themes to bring up the sparks, and just the right use of the colloquial to blow the blaze.
(stop using silly metaphors! Sorry aboput that!)
And what a lovely photo!
