Look how happy the reps are

As only coffee went with pizza

Wish it was drink all you can

Don’t be selfish now!

Must be cool

It must be cool to be in a band

Everyone says so

The adoration from the crowd

It shouldn't really be allowed

We're all idols in our own time

But some need more

Time after time

While ever rotting at the core

Musicing is now a verb

But it always has been hasn't it?

Plucking, strumming and picking

It hardly warrants any thinking

I find it an ever d...

Play in the Night

Play in the Night

                      --Michael Kwack

From two o’clock

When owls hoot

Up to four when cocks crow

Surely I will be kept awake,

To watch the secret play

Of the conscious and unconscious.

However, I will not see

The queer performance inside me

As a mere dream in the night.

If I long for better plays,

More will I wander dur...

Zoomnation

Zoomnation

He stayed in beautiful isolation

For so long

He became a memory

A shadow on the wall

A stain on the carpet

When they sipped red wine

They remembered him

In the taste upon their lips

In the pause

Between the small talk

The chair remained empty

The corner a little darker

The mirror over the bar

Cast no reflection

Of him

MAKE SUCCESS

At the end of everything
Some results come to gain
Thus, you can get experience
How to deal with same again

Don't think, it was so difficult
Just use your own brain
Be ready for every possible
Don't tell me "but in vain"

If you can say "I decide it"
The desert turns green
Then you'll exert success
Surely will forget the pain

THE INSIGNIFICANT POET

My thoughts on paper hour after hour

When I lie in bed or in the shower

I do it all so you can glower

I'm the insignificant Poet

I stand up here and on my own

Hearing every sigh and groan

Whilst you sit and play on your mobile phone

I'm the insignificant Poet

I write it daily, profound and deep

Words to make you laugh or weep

Inspired whilst you were fast as...

Waiting on flowers

I am waiting for the day that you will show up at my door

With a flower for every birthday you missed.

Twenty-one flowers of vibrant colors—

Turquoise, violet, “tickled pink”—

They will spread their pedals in the warm spotlight

That will touch every inch of my cold, pale skin.

The features of my face will be illuminated.

I will no longer be the infant you left—

The life tha...

NEW WEBSITE LAUNCHED

http://whiteleyian.wix.com/the-crows-of-albion#

I've decided to put some of my performance and recorded songs onto a new website - along with a future blog of poems and live dates etc. So, quite a few of the poems i blogged last year now appear on this site as either performance videos or recorded tunes (via Soundcloud).

There's a quite a bit of colour and it gives me the opportunity to prom...

Pop Up Poetry Jamming for Oxfam

Pop Up Poetry at the Bar des Arts in Guildford in October succeeded in raising £70 for Oxfam through voluntary donations at what is normally a free night of poetry, songs and spoken word. We had a great time, with the Leano, Cathy Flower and Steve Pottinger adding their magic to a line up of fantastic open mic contributors, including some new faces whom we're looking forward to inviting back as...

Took Ten Steps

This is a poem that was written by an old friend of mine called Paul Nunn who I have a long music association with. He heard some of my performance poetry and asked if I would record this one. It is my pleasure to have done so.

Getting Our Taxes Back

I was recently asked to write and perform a poem about The August Riots of the UK for a 'Fight Back Debate' in which the young people of Bolton discussed their opposition to both the criminal acts of the young people involved, and the media's focus on youth involvement to the extent that young people have been misrepresented.

Unemployment in Northern Ireland

I've written this about the rising unemployment in Northern Ireland and the severe consequences of it. This is what the future will look like if we don't do something about it:

Hero

Once-upon-a-time, a barman worshipped the Sun.

Worked nights so didn’t see much of it

but in his head he’d got stories of

the Fire God supreme,

Blaze Lord,

vanquishing monsters who'd eat out your dreams.

He called the Sun ‘Hero’,

believed it had six pairs of arms,

giant wings of flame

and the handsomest nose in the galaxy.

Made moons blush
