A Brother Is...

A Brother is Joy,
A Brother is Hope,
A lil' bit of annoyance,
Fights all along.

A beautiful Gift,
Of all those prayers,
In him, we find love,
Oh! so Rare.

Those mockful Punches,
Some Pushes alike,
Seconds of Anger,
Love still burns Bright.

A Brother is a Thief,
A stealthy one,
Stealing my Dairy Milks',
Till there is none.

A Brother is Pride,

'Seven Times'

‘Seven times’ ~ A poem for my younger siblings

I have fallen in love seven times.

Seven pairs of eyes that blinked open

and looked back into mine.

My heart expanded into spaces

I did not know I had,

as your entire hand curled

My brother is a worm.

The little one is even worse.

I just can’t tell you, think you’ll squirm.

They will not share,

They pull my hair,

And never let me be.

But then at night when I lie down,

And think of all the fun we had,

I know I’m lucky to have them all,

It’s really not that bad

Relations

New born, away from home
Strip back, left aside
Brother of mine
Met at the age of five
Father’s ‘son’ was heard in whispers
Brought up
Mothers dead but I see a mother
This is your ‘mum’
Mums at home, not my mum
Age of 10
She ain’t his mother
Want to tell him – kept in silence
His mother? My mum?
None of ours
Brother from another mother?
Indeed, he knew so too
But the women he calls...
