Fractured Thoughts

In restless nights, I questioned my role. Wondering If words could calm your blues. Despite the hurt, I yearned to ease your pain, Though you didn't seek my truth, my heart remained. I prioritized your needs, suppressed mine Forgot my feelings, put you first. Wishing you'd see me through. But now I see, you were beyond repair. Before you go, one question remains? Was there something I could have said to ease your pains? Would it have change your mind, kept us whole? Or was our fate sealed, leaving me to face the year?
