And And I walk this street every day of my life visit the same old places see the self-same sorry faces trapped by expression of a useless life Derailed, abject, lost, fucked before they even stood a chance hours traded gladly for a high just to get by Just to make another fuckin day not last And he could be from another decade snot nose covered head to toe in shit and grime 8 maybe 9 fatherless no doubt, mother mostly not around Innocent now only just. And Beneath the bristle eyes sapphire blue meet mine and we two, see cabbage white silk wings, and something passes two hearts stop to hold one breath till at last he claps and she beats away for us just me and him a butterfly Kite How did i ever arrive, this place this age? I was never meant to be here alone. Memories too beautiful to now make so sad. Remember the kite, but the colour is gone. How I wish I could summon the wind from that day to Blow these feelings away Cruel impossible Love. Wonder in youth now old in regret decide. I will never find my perfect other. Thinking herself happy or sad, still lost never able to find me nor me her. Wife, a mother alone maybe, given up long ago the hopeless search for her perfect other me. Did she find solace in just making do? Forging contentment as so many before. Wild flowers countless meadows fill. Unique beauty, each smell a heaven. So alike are we, individual In flawed perfection. Emotional sentient beings no two a thumb print, save the one will never find. Certainty in middle years feeling you close. Foolish daydreams, now cynical older sees truth. Dull the years, death closer, fate set sure in failure. Perfect other, symbiotic light to shade mirror cast. Two halves never a whole. A mapless journey, Indefatigable unknown my search. Wasted agony. One for each of us No more Cruel impossible Love.

Hello Richard.
Danes Dyke - yes. In fact, we've just had a week at Sewerby.
The boats? I'm sure I will have as a kid. I'm absolutely certain about the Hispaniola, though; and bashing the Germans in Peasholm Park!
Richard, thank you for your positive comments about the site. very welcome indeed. came at a good time.
Hi Richard
you're nearly right - I'm on at Cadence on 18th July - it is my book launch event (book is titled 'A Step Towards Winter')but it isn;t really baseds around Poe - although 'That Which Autumn Leaves' is in the collection and a couple of the other poems are quite dark. Hope your reading of 'In The Belly Of The Whale' went down well :-) look forward to meeting you at Cadence

Glad you liked "Filey" Richard. You're right about so many of those other Yorkshire coast towns (I'm not so sure about Brid, though!). The attraction of Filey for me personally is its memories rather than any intrinsic character.
Hello again Richard. My husband was the stay at home parent for two years. So he has seen the pro and con of at home parenting. Your poem "Mother's Autumn" speaks well of this.
LOL - thank you Richard - I really enjoyed myself last night.
Performance poetry is all about hip action and don't let anyone tell you otherwise ;)
Richard - thanks for the comment you left on "Dambuster". I look forward to reading your "Lancaster" poem in due course.
