Many thanks for the kind comments on my poems recently. Sorry I can’t offer a more personal thankyou but I’ve got gremlins in my machine which makes typing a comment over the internet take an eternity. Hence this rather impersonal catch-all done in Word and pasted on-line.
Notwithstanding, many thanks.

Hi MC
Thanks for your comment. I am not a writer or a poet I have never been published.
Being able to write a poem is an achievement for
me,it doesn't come easy. You should read my poem "No Simple Life"
I do appreciate comments, and I try to learn from them, thanks

Hey'up M.C.
Superfacial
I'm not really asking anyone to be like me (god forbid), nor do I want to be like others, just that there should more of an understanding between people of different cultures, and even upbringings
thanks for the thought though

Hi MCN, Ta muchly for comment on Taste of Time, instants are the important bits that can be captured. A few good moments may help dispell those sour morsals that we all carry. Ta muchly, Nick.

Hi M.C.
Thanks for taking the time to look at 'Out'. It's much appreciated
I have to say it's not autobiographical (I hate bigots), but sadly there are still many folk who aren't too far away from what the poem says.
Fortunately it seems to have been taken the right way, but I was half-ready for a slagging from those who don't know me

Hello, M.C. !
Thank you so much for the help and the comments on "Happy Marriage". I was just touched to see that you've found time to read my poem. Your advice is great.
I didn't know the word 'suitors'. I had to look at the dictionary as at first glance I thought it was a synonym to the word 'suitable' though I understood that it was someone who suits I was not sure. Now I see. 'Suitors' is a perfect word here. More than that, it rhymes better: confused - suitors.
Please, when you have time, have a look at my site:

Hello, M.C.! Thank you so much for the message. Yes, I agree with you: Argument is the food of vanity
Discussion is the food of knowledge. Wise words. It's pleasant to communicate with an intelligent man.

Hi MC, there were 2 ranks of master gunner in your Great father’s time. One title was given to the General in charge of the Artillery and the other was given to what we call today a warrant officer class one. Which as you probably know is the highest rank a none commissioned officer can hold?

Hi MC.Thanks for your comment on Daddy's Child. When I was writing it I was also feeling that the speaker in the poem was not only mourning for the child's loss but also her own, which is why some of the phrases like arms so strong would relate to what she personally was missing too. Maybe I was not successful in this.

Hi MC… thanks for your comment on Meles Meles. I too stumbled across Brock many years ago, in quite the same way you describe, when I was walking back to my car after an ‘unsuccessful’ Badger watch! I used to be (still am) very interested in Badgers and was a regional secretary for the Clwyd Badger Group for a number of years and had many cold damp and wondrous evenings watching them. There is a large percentage of erythristic badgers where I lived. By the way the picture was taken in my back yard!

Many thanks for your kind comments on 'Standing Stones' MC. Although my working career was all spent in The Smoke, I hail from the North. Waterloo and The Strand areas do have a kind of energy to them. Places near train stations carry a compelling nostalgia I think.

Yes I love it.( ref fahrenheit/centigrade )That's going into my resources box to quote in the future.
Do you remember, when we went metric, the litle jingles on the side of cornflake boxes? :

weigh about a kilogram
A litre of water's
A pint and three quarters.
I still use them as my point of reference
There must have been one for measurement but I don't recall it. XX

Hello M.C.A mate of my father's used to work for Timeform back in the '60s. He used to give me a copy of "Racehorses of 19.." for free. The 3 horses in the poem were my first big win, 1970, remember the names, prices, names of the races. Cheltenham next week!
