Hi Cate, thanks for taking the trouble to ask me about the Jaberwocky poem!! Good fun! I have read your poetry on the blogs and enjoyed it. some of it is definitely song. My favourite though has to be sunflowers, so evocative.

Thank you Cate. There is a sense of moment in Newborn , it kind of holds you. I am not sure I meant it to come out that way but glad it did.
Olives pumps is fun and clever, much liked.

Thanks Cate for your comment, agree with you entirely. Also agree with your response to Tony, but daren't add a comment in case I put my oversized size 5 directly in a big pile of dogpoop!:-) Didn't think that we posted poems for just for praise, I know I don't, I enjoy the criticism and not everybody likes the same flavours, although it is nice when we do get it right.
Thanks again Cate.

Thanks for the comments on my "70 Metres Dash". It really was true - I did keep comimg last. ("The Charge of the Light Brigade" is true as well - don't ever get electricians in your house to do some work!
Since you commented I took the opportunity to look at your stuff, ("Eer Olive's Pumps"). We seem to have a similarity of style - heavy meter and rhyme, light content.
Post some more.

Hi Cate
Thanks for the comment. I was in my 'rebel' years when I went to SA, but knew nothing of the ways of the world. The only things that bothered me were pop music, football and the odd? girlfriend. I know, now, that I knew nothing of apartheid. It was an illuminating period of my life.
A lot of the black South Africans had Biblical names. I think they were more Christian than the rest of the inhabitants.

Thanks for the comment Cate, 'double bummer' when your are working till four thirty because the only quiet time in the house is after 10pm......and then the youngest decide to wake up at 4pm, and by the time you have settled them by 6, the next wave errupts, and the rest of those beautiful little blighters come 'a bouncing' on your bed, pinching your pillow, sticking fingers up your nose and in your ears and throwing dodies and bottles with deadly aim, that normally bounce off your head!!:-)
11 cups of coffee later...........school run, and third wind takes over. haha.

John Darwin brought me down to earth. I'd forgotten voting goes on until the 6th.
Is this a case of premature alliteration?

Cate,
Re: For Whom The Wheel Turns:
'I would agree with you that the concience has its own way of "pay back" but I would like to think that for those who have no conscience, there is a higher order, a sort of cosmic "equalising" which applies to all things. This was what the poem was about.'
I totally agree Cate...
I believe that even if you don't have a conscience - you will eventually get what you deserve...

Hi Cate
Thanks for the comment. I'm presuming chilling is ok?
This came to me after looking into a room used by Age Concern, where all the easy-clean chairs were set out around the wall. One other visitor couldn't bring themselves to go in to the room because of the memories it brought back, visiting her parents.
It just made me think

Hi Cate
Thanks for commenting.
First of all I couldn't beat your Blog photograph (I'm not sure I phrased that correctly)
Secondly, if I'd put a photo of my bum on the Blog, it may have started a riot
Thirdly, if I'd put a photo of the sort of bum I saw on the bus, I'd have probably got crucified.

Thanks for your comments. Yes it was hard - extremely chewy and odd. Even though I hate waste, the attempt had to be abandoned. To top it all I forgot photos could be posted with blogs. A pic of the sad little object would have made a nice addition

Hi Cate
Thanks for your comment on my revisitation to Time Flues. I've eaten humble pie (a large portion) for CBT. Whether she's still my friend, I'll have to wait and see.
The funny thing is, the original version was quite different to what I would normally try.
Is there a home truth in that?

Hi CAte, thanks for commenting on Turn Away. No, they're not children of the future, although I like your take. more they are children of the past, adults of the future, children raised by grandmothers, becoming drowned in things they can't quite handle.thanks again Cate for taking the time to read and comment, Deb xx

Hi Cate,
And thanks for taking the time to have a look at my scribblings - I really appreciate it and I'm pleased that you enjoyed them. I guess my remarks in the "Crimes against Poetry" thread were meant to be a little provocative - it's often a good way to get a discission going! :-) There are no absolutes in poetry, one person's taste is just that - very subjective. I hope there is room for every imaginable kind of poetry in the world, it would be a much poorer place without it.
I am very envious of your musical talent, something that I have none of unfortunately. You also write very well (some people are just such smarta***s!) I like the strength, determination and resolution you show in "What Do You See? . . . If I had to have one tiny quibble, it would be with the last four lines:
Listen.
I am coming.
Do you
See
Me?
Simply because it seems to be a mixture of the senses - listen/see rather than listen/hear - look/see. But it's minor and of no matter. I enjoyed your comments on the thread too - hope we can discuss more. Everyone has opinions and if we don't debate these things we don't learn. Great to hear from you.
Regards,
A.E.

Could you enlighten me about things disappearing at the end of the month, please - I'm new, haven't noticed anything going and don't understand. Email if you don't want to clutter up this space. It's just mechanics so I'll probably delete it if you post it on mine once the penny has dropped.
Thank you
