Winston. Thanks for the explanation. It does help. I'm trying to put a link to the other ghazal. Might not work!
Didn't work. I'll post it for you later if you like, it was on another poetry forum.

Great moths. Good to see you in Hebden. Must catch up on the barge, linzo wants to see it too. That pub and that Bus was whacko and fun Win. Good poems form the Hebby team! Glad I made it, but driving back that beast across the moors was tricky! Dark and tiring. I ended up city watching in Preston and Blackburn, the odd Honda CRX race 'n' all!

Hi, Winston,
I had to think about your question. When you say 'write like that' I wasn't sure if you meant the theme or the diction, or both. I visited three separate highschool friends while on holiday, each one a vibrant and influential part of my late teenage years. I had the SS template with me on a bit of loose paper, not sure if I could possible 'arrange' anything readable, ever. Thoughts about 'early friendship' were dodging around in my head, and I suddenly realized this form had potential with this theme. I did a Manley Hopkins thing, and jotted down long lists of rhyming words, and then waited for inspiration to point the way. It was very hard, to be honest, to be so caged up, and yet still sound like you are expressing 'free thought association'. Thanks for your encouragement.

Odd though this may seem, you are the first person to ever ask me for beauty tips...

I find growing my hair down to my eyebrows helps to volumise the lashes - though this is not always easy for the male ostrich.

You could instead leave your eyebrows to grow bushy - another little tip of mine!

Or, if you bat repeatedly, this also has a volumising effect - be careful who you do it to though, it can be misinterpreted as an preliminary mating ritual...

You look very manly in your new pic Winston - though I keep wanting to turn the picture round cos you seem to be defying gravity!

Hi Winston, thanks for your kind comments. I really enjoyed hearing your Best Before End on this website, I think I'm approaching that myself! I'll hopefully be over to Hebden in July or August depending on my work shifts. I really enjoy hearing your poetry there and I wrote this poem inspired after hearing you there the last time: She wants to hold my hand, she wants to hold MY hand, YES!!!!!!!!!I am loved. Cheers again, see you soon matexxxxxxx

Thanks for commenting on Rock. Actually it didn't have anything to do with the painting Win. I was trying to put another photo on but it wouldn't obey! So as I love this one I put it on. I had just been sitting on my favourite rock on the beach and the texture of it inspired me. And I was trying to use the feelings of strength and happiness of moments like that, and the memory of them, to get through the bad bits. And to know the bad bits of life are the less important bits! ;-)

Thanks for your kind comments about "Coopey's Groupies". This a very rare example of me being able to do something positive with such an unusual surname.
The poem is true (-well, perhaps a little exaggerartion with the anecdotes-). It's the George and Dragon in West Haddlesey near Selby.
Anyway, I took the opportunity to look at some of your poems and was impressed by them - we seem to share a love of rhythm. I especially enjoyed the phrase "walking in six string heaven" - very pictorial and evocative.
Once again, thanks for the post.

Hello Winston
I just read your comments on my Houghton Main poem, Thankyou very much. I did work at Houghton Main for a short period, but not underground and after the incident. The Manager when I was there was a right character called Tony Griffin - then the whole industry seemed to teem with larger-than-life characters.
Perhaps there's another poem in there somewhere!
The explosion (and a lighter fictional piece about the visit of Prince Charles) are the subjects of a book by Barry Hines (author of Kes) The BBC screened them in the seventies. They're both very good in their respective ways.;
Anyway, many thanks again.
